2010 Persona Oliver Half Iron

Sunday June 6, 2010

  • The race is filling up quickly. Click here to register for the event.
  • Click here to view the athlete video and overview of the 2009 Event brought to you by Persona.
  • The transition will again be located around the corner on the grass field at Tucelnuit Elementary School and is 250m from the swim exit via the road.  This new transition area allowed for more bike racks enabling us to have fewer bikes per rack, larger change tents and overall more breathing space for all athletes.  Click here to view these new maps.
  • One loop swim course again planned for 2010.  Again a big thanks to the Town of Oliver for their support regarding our application for an exemption to enable motorized support boats to be on the lake during the swim.
  • We will again have 30 Subaru Ironman Canada qualifying spots for 2010.
  • Steve King Announcing.

Outback Events is please to announce our newest partnership with Athletes In Kind as our new BC race charity partner.

Athletes in Kind organizes athletic and non-athletic events to raise money for families battling cancer and to date AIK has donated over $70,000 to these families.

Athletes in Kind strive to help individuals give back to their community through sport. We believe athletes are driven because of circumstance or specific people who inspired them to compete and/or participate in athletics.

AIK is pleased to announce it's newest fundraising campaign for our season, September 2009 to September 2010. Our goal is to raise 70.3 ($70.300) for families that are struggling financially because of childhood cancer.  That vision comes from our President, Lorie Muller, that will personally lead the campaign by completing a series of triathlons with the 1/2 Ironman (70.3) distance as her focus.  Lorie says, "This is our 5th anniversary of Athletes In Kind.  We've been fortunate to have been able to raise approx. $70,000 during that time. I want to match that this year".

Check out the AIK website to see how you can get involved in helping raise needed funds for families dealing with Cancer or to make a donation.

Look for Lorie and members of team AIK at Outback Events races this season and at our race expos.

Sylvan Lake Half Iron to be 2010 Provincial Championship and the National Canadian Long Course Championships.

We are pleased to announce that the 2010 race will serve as both the Provincial and National Championships.  After hosting the Nationals in Osoyoos at the Desert Half the past three years we are pleased to be working with the Alberta Triathlon Association and Triathlon Canada this year.

"The Alberta Triathlon Association is very excited and pleased that the 2010 Provincial Championship will be held at Sylvan Lake.  This is a great venue, and the support of the community in Sylvan Lake is terrific.  On behalf of the membership and board of directors we wish to congratulate the team from Outback Events and encourage all Triathletes in the province of Alberta to mark this event on their calendar."

Outback Events is proud to announce that we will be partnering with Cops for Cancer as the Official Charity for the Sylvan Lake Half Iron.  The Iron Cops Crew helped us prepare and serve the bbq lunch to all of the athletes on race day this year and did a fantastic job.  We are looking forward to working together to help raise money and awareness for Cops for Cancer.
