The Art Event, February 22, 2008
Inuit Gallery of Vancouver

01.21.2008

Andy Everson

Renowned Northwest Coast artist, Andy Everson is finalizing the third and final limited edition print of a series inspired by triathlon and the fundraising efforts of Cops for Cancer - Team Ironman.

On Friday, February 22, 2008, the Inuit Gallery of Vancouver (click here for directions) in Vancouver, BC will be hosting a gala event for the release of the much anticipated print.  People who have attended our prior events at the Inuit Gallery have been taken back by the combination of the Art, the Artist and the multi-media presentation throughout the evening.  In the past we have had live performances by the recording star Riley, formerly appearing with the Motown legend "Temptations" and if his schedule permits he has committed to returning for this gala event.

The first print in the series was produced in February 2006 and is titled "Flight".  This stirring image integrates Northwest Coast traditional imagery over a contemporary background in a stunning and colour-rich print.  The ghostly image of an aero-position cyclist lies faintly on the canvas to bind the celebration of those who live life with purpose and passion; whether the challenge is Ironman or the fight against Cancer.

The second print in the series was produced in February 2007 and is titled "Footprints" .  This emotional image again integrated Northwest Coast traditional imagery over a contemporary background in a chilling winter setting.  The silhouette of a runner can be distinguished keeping stride with 2 wolves in a dual symbolism of the individualism of the lone runner connecting with the reliance on the pack. Left behind are the footprints as a mark of the journey.

The third print is inspired by swimming, the third discipline of triathlon.  We anticipate this print will also sell out before Ironman in August as there are a lot of collectors who have purchased the first 2 in the series.

The outstanding success of the previous 2 sell-out prints has resulted in almost $10,000 in donations for the Canadian Cancer Society.  We have held back one of each print and will auction the framed series as a set here on the web site starting after the Art Event on February 22.  Thanks to everyone for your support of this great event in the past and we look forward to seeing everyone for the unveiling of the final print!
